Pregnancy Stage Month by Month

1st Month:
Emotion:
If it is your first time being pregnant, you may still feel confused and feared yet joyous over the pregnancy.

Physical:
The egg begins its journey to the uterus after it joins with a sperm.

2nd Month:
Emotion:
Sometimes you forget that you are pregnant and you may feel guilty about it. Other times, you just cannot believe that you are really pregnant.

Physical:
You begin to experience the vomiting and nausea during this time. Also you feel that you get extremely tired. Some may even experience mild cramps.

3rd Month:
Emotion:
It is common to start feeling anxious about your baby’s health during this month.

Physical:
The decrease of having an intimacy, feeling fatigue and morning sickness are all very common. You may feel your breasts become tenderer, fuller and larger.

4th Month:
Emotion:
You may accept the pregnancy more easily at this stage.

Physical:
You may feel a little bit better than the last 3 months as your placenta takes over the pregnancy hormones production. Maternity clothes are not yet needed by most women though some women begin to show changes on their belly. Your heart beats more quickly as it needs to pump the extra blood at this point.

5th Month:
Emotion:
You may begin to want to learn about birth and babies as you are getting a little anxious.

Physical:
At this point of time, your baby may start moving which is referred to as quickening. And as your kidneys work harder, you will be going to the bathroom more frequently.

6th Month:
Emotion:
It is quite common that at this stage, you are having strange dreams.

Physical:
Some women may experience heartburn during this month. Avoid foods that have strong odor and try having more frequent but smaller meals. As the baby moves more regularly now, you may find it easier to feel it.

7th Month:
Emotion:
While you are learning, consider taking a childbirth class or even breastfeeding class.

Physical:
Your body releases a hormone called relaxin which makes your joints loosen to prepare for birth. You will be beginning to experience unpleasant symptoms such as back pain and sleep difficulty.

8th Month:
Emotion:
If you feel the anxiety of parenting arises, it will be a good idea to discuss this with your partner or other parents.

Physical:
Whenever you have the opportunity to sleep regardless the time, take it, as sleepless nights ahead are coming your way. You may also urinate more frequently because the baby is now dropping even further into your pelvis.

9th Month:
Emotion:
It will be a good idea to have your confidence in breastfeeding built. Nesting instinct may also develop on some women which includes cleaning the home and stocking up foods.

Physical:
As your breasts begin to fill with milk, you may feel they are swollen and they may also leak due to their final preparations for breastfeeding.
